Anita Draycott
Anita Draycott has logged over two decades of travel writing over five
continents. From foraging for seaweed off Vancouver island to practicing
her Thai vocabulary with her female caddy in Chiang Mai, to buckling
up for a canopy thrill ride high above the Costa Rican rainforest, she ll
go to great lengths to introduce you to experiences and adventures beyond
the beaten path.
Anita s travel articles and photography
regularly appear in the The Toronto Sun, Toronto Star, Doctor s
Review, SCORE Golf, Ontario Golf, Go Media, 50 Plus, MoneySense, Pure
Canada and Elle Canada. She is associate editor, eastern Canada for
Canadian Traveller magazine.
Most recently, she became managing editor
of GolfStyle, an upscale lifestyle publication for avid golfers. To
say Anita is a passionate golfer would be an understatement. This summer
she was thrilled to be invited to play in the European Ladies Championship
ProAm in Wales.
She is the recipient of several travel-writing
awards, including the Lowell Thomas Award in 2004 for an article of
golf in Thailand, Starwood Hotel s 2003 award for Best Travel
Article and Best Tourism Article on Malaysia from Malaysia Tourism in
2002. This year she was awarded the Silver Medal of Honor from the French
Office of Tourism for her many articles on France.
Anita was editor of City & Country Home
magazine for 14 years. She also created several Special Editions for
Chatelaine magazine on home décor, gardening and travel.
Anita is past vice president of TMAC (Travel Media Association of Canada)
and membership chairperson for SATW (Society of American Travel Writers)
and member of GWAA (Golf Writers Association of America).
